{"id":2148,"date":"2026-03-02T11:30:31","date_gmt":"2026-03-02T11:30:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/estoa-uganda.org\/?p=2148"},"modified":"2026-03-02T11:51:00","modified_gmt":"2026-03-02T11:51:00","slug":"elementor-2148","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/estoa-uganda.org\/index.php\/2026\/03\/02\/elementor-2148\/","title":{"rendered":"Invitation to support the 5 acres initiative."},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"2148\" class=\"elementor elementor-2148\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4eedb3d e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"4eedb3d\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3283944 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"3283944\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">5 Acres Initiative <\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f80a94e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f80a94e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Through a Memorandum of Understanding between ESTOA and the Association for Conservation of Bugoma Forest, we invite tour operators to invest in\u00a0<strong>Every<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>5 Acres<\/strong>\u00a0project to offset their carbon emissions and help regenerate the habitat of chimpanzees and mangabeys, which are endangered with extinction.<\/p><p>The project&#8217;s goal is simple and concrete: to acquire 100 acres of land bordering the Bugoma Forest Reserve and restore it with indigenous trees, creating new habitat for endangered species such as chimpanzees and Uganda mangabeys, while offering a transparent, nature-based solution for carbon emission compensation.<\/p><p>As of 2026, 20 acres have already been secured, and the project grows through the direct involvement of tour operators and travellers.<\/p><ul><li><strong>A returned tickets from central Europe to Uganda is on average 16.000 km in total, with average emissions of 100 g per km, for a total of 3,2 tons of CO2.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong> The transfers in Uganda are on average 1.500 km with a four-wheel drive vehicle with average 3 \/ 4 passengers per vehicle which is equal to 0,1 tons of CO2.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong> The overall estimate of the carbon emissions for one tourist is 3,5 tons of CO2 which requires compensation by acquiring 3 carbon credits and half or equivalent.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><p><strong>How the Project Works<\/strong><\/p><p>Each contribution to Every 5 Acres supports three core components:<\/p><ul><li>Land acquisition (each acre legally purchased at approx. \u20ac2,000 \/ USD 2,300)<\/li><li>Tree planting (around 400 trees per acre;
